Jane Marshall Martz (1929–2007) and Gordon Martz (1924–2015) were American designers and ceramicists best known for their influential mid-century modern work at Marshall Studios in Veedersburg, Indiana. They met while studying art, ceramics, and design at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and married in 1950/51.
In 1951, the couple joined Jane’s family business, Marshall Studios, where they introduced a distinctly modern range of handcrafted ceramic lamps, tableware, accessories, and decorative objects. Their designs combined simple geometric forms with richly textured and often hand-applied finishes. Their work helped establish Marshall Studios as an important source of American mid-century lighting and ceramics.
