Trix and Robert Haussmann are considered one of the most pioneering Swiss architects and designers, who shaped the country’s design culture from the 1960s onward. Trix Haussmann (b. 1933) studied architecture at ETH Zurich, while Robert Haussmann (1931–2021) trained in interior design under Willy Guhl and Wilhelm Kienzle.
They began working together in the 1960s and founded the Allgemeine Entwurfsanstalt in Zurich in 1967. Their work encompassed architecture, interiors, furniture, and product design, characterized by irony, illusion, historical references, and a critical reinterpretation of modernism. In 2013, they received Switzerland’s Grand Prix Design for their influential body of work.
